The Environment

ISO 14001In 2004, Manx Telecom was one of the first companies in the Isle of Man to be accredited to ISO 14001, a standard for environmental management.  The accreditation takes into account every aspect of a company’s operation and aims to manage, control, and reduce, the impact of the business on the environment.  In 2013, we confirmed this commitment with a full reassessment of our systems and achieved accreditation for a further three years.


We were one of the first companies to be awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard, having been awarded previous versions of this accreditation since 2002.  This rigorous assessment of our Business Management processes has been a key enabler and driver of continuous Improvement within Manx Telecom.


We were the world’s first telecoms operator to gain British Approvals Board of Telecommunications (BABT) approval for the accuracy of our billing across fixed, mobile, and broadband.  This means that our customers can have confidence that our billing processes and systems are produced and supported to the highest standards.  Manx Telecom remains the only telecommunications provider on the Isle of Man to be BABT approved.  It is also the only telecommunications company in the world to have attained BABT approval for all billing aspects across every area of its business.


iso27001 stampOur Douglas North Data Centre is accredited to ISO/IEC 27001, the most rigorous security standard anywhere in the world.  Ours is the only data centre in the Isle of Man with this accreditation, and Manx Telecom is one of only three Island companies to hold it.  ISO/IEC 27001 is the only auditable international standard that defines the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS) and one of the most rigorous standards of its type anywhere in the world.  Manx Telecom’s ISO 27001 certification covers all of our Data Centre service operations, managed service platforms, IP networks, business systems provision, fixed and mobile networks, repair services, access networks, strategic network development, power and estate management. 

Payment Protection

We provide fully outsourced managed Data Centre platforms to a range of customers which are required to be audited annually and be compliant with PCI DSS (Payment card Industry Data Security Standard); the worlds most advanced and most stringent security standard for online payment processors.  PCI DSS is the “gold standard” for protecting customer account data.

We work with Neovia, a world leader in on-line payments for customers in 160 countries.  With a Manx Telecom built platform they have the most successful prepaid card programs in the market, allowing customers to spend safely at over 24 million MasterCard locations point of sale, ATM’s, and online.


Staff dealing with sensitive data, or involved in the security or resilience of our systems, are security vetted via the Special Branch & Intelligence unit of the Isle of Man Police Force. We help customers to achieve the same standards via our ISO27001 Lead Audit team, including EC Certified Ethical Hackers, and Security Analysts.
