SDSL Broadband

Manx Telecom Broadband SDSL, short for Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line, uses a standard telephone line* for multimedia and high speed data communications. Unlike ADSL services, SDSL provides the same bandwidth for both the upstream (to the Internet) and downstream (to the customer) parts of the service. The advantage of a symmetric service means that it is suitable for companies that need to host their own web or email servers in-house and those who have a requirement for substantial outgoing traffic.

SDSL Services are available as a ‘Wires-only’ or a Managed service:

  • ‘Wires-only’ service has optional consultancy service to aid set-up and configuration.
  • Managed service options include SDSL router, configuration, remote diagnostics, technical support and hardware maintenance.

** One IP address is assigned as standard. Additional addresses are only available upon completion of a RIPE IP address declaration. This form will be verified by Manx Telecom, and may be rejected if the number of IP addresses requested appears excessive. Most functions can be achieved with a single IP address using Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port Forwarding, so customers are asked to consider this before completing the RIPE declaration form.
