Global Push for eGaming and eBusiness
20 January 2010
Manx Telecom will be supporting the Isle of Man Government
delegation at the high profile International Gaming Expo, to be
held in London next week. Senior managers from Manx Telecom will be
manning an exhibition stand, working together with a team from the
Department of Trade and Industry and other local businesses, to
promote the Island as a premier jurisdiction for eBusiness and
eGaming operators.
The Expo is one of the largest events of its types, attracting
most of the world’s leading Gaming companies, and the industries
which support them, such as telecommunication companies, data
centre owners, software developers, and corporate service
providers. Gaming, particularly online Gaming, is one of the
world’s fastest growing industries, and the Island has already
attracted some of the biggest names to locate and operate here.
“The International Gaming Expo is a key event for us,” says
Stephen Kane, eBusiness Development Manager at Manx Telecom, “our
investment in a state of the art data centre, high capacity multi
gigabit networks, and managed IT platforms, is playing a huge role
in enabling the lsland to grow and develop an entirely new sector
of the economy. Growth in this sector not only helps to diversify
our economy, and by the very nature of this business, attracts
entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals to live and work on
the Island. At the same time, our growing eBusiness success is
fostering a large and growing pool of technical specialists,
boosting the Island’s skills base.
Global competition is fierce, but we are convinced that, working
together, Manx Telecom and ‘Isle of Man plc’ have a great story to
tell, and can demonstrate some unique advantages when it comes to
basing an eBusiness, particularly an eGaming business, on the
Island.”
