Mike Loundes
Director of Customer Service and CTO
Mike Loundes joined Manx Telecom at the age of 16, as a
trainee technician. He progressed through the company to his
current position of Director of Customer Service/Chief Technology
Officer.
This role has overall responsibility for service availability
through the operation, maintenance and development of our networks,
systems and customer equipment.
The challenges Mike has met in his career at Manx Telecom have
been broad and rewarding. These have included the design and
conversion of the fixed network from analogue to digital, the
design and implementation of the GSM mobile network, the
development of the Satellite Earth Station and the installation of
the optical fibre submarine cables. The implementation of the
World’s first 3G HSDPA broadband network in 2005 was another major
success.
The latest, and most significant challenge to date, will be the
replacement of the existing fixed, mobile and broadband networks
with a converged NGN network.
Mike has BSc (hons) and BA degrees from the Open
University. He is Chairman of the Isle of Man College
Engineering Advisory Committee and a Governor of the Isle of Man
College.
Mike is married to Elaine and has two children, Clarinda and
Kevin and two grandchildren, Megan and Nathan.
