To combat the nuisance of spam e-mail (unsolicited e-mail) Manx
Telecom has invested in a spam filtering solution that will capture
the majority of spam e-mail and allow you the choice to either
download or ignore it.
By default, you will receive one summary a day to your Manxnet
Mail account, listing any suspected spam e-mail you have received.
You will then have the ability to look down the list of spam mails
and either download or ignore the unwanted mail. The suspected spam
e-mail will be kept on our servers for twenty one days.
If a legitimate e-mail has been captured by mistake you may
download it and also mark that e-mail as an allowed sender. This
will then make sure any further e-mail from that particular sender
is ignored by the spam filter and sent to you automatically.
Junk Mail Manager Explained
When you receive your Junk Mail Manager Summary it will be sent
from "Junk Mail Manager" with the subject line
of "Junk Mail Manager Summary":
The first part of the e-mail will give you instructions on how
to retrieve any e-mail you would like. These instructions are
highlighted below in italics:
“Below is the list of messages that Junk Mail Manager has
most recently categorized as junkmail and quarantined for this
account. Click a Subject link to view the message, Deliver to
deliver the message, or Approve to deliver the message and add the
sender to this account's Junk Mail Manager Allowed Senders List.
Adding a sender to the Allowed Senders List ensures that their mail
to this account is never categorized as junkmail.
You can ignore the junkmail messages included in this
summary and they will be automatically deleted after the expiration
date set by your administrator.
Click Login to open Junk Mail Manager; you will need your
user ID and password.”
When you click on a listed message to deliver it to your inbox a
new window will open and advise you:
“Deliver Message: The message has been released from
quarantine and is being delivered to you.”
If you always want to receive e-mails from this sender then
click the "Approve" link; you will then see a confirmation box
asking if you want to approve all messages from this sender. To
confirm, simply press OK.
When you click OK you will see the following message:
“Approve Message: The message has been released from
quarantine and is being delivered to you. The sender has been added
to your Allowed Senders List.”
To view or make changes to your Allowed or Blocked Senders list
and to configure your anti-spam service you should click the login
link in the Summary to open Junk Mail Manager. This will open a new
window and will ask for your password to login. This is the same as
your e-mail password.
Once logged in you can view and manage your Allowed and Blocked
Senders lists, create additional filters to personalise your Junk
Mail Manager and change the way the Summaries are delivered to
you.
