With E-Biz Hosting you can create and manage Mailing Lists to
use to contact your customers on a regular basis.
While Mailing Lists are managable via the E-Biz Control Panel we
recommend that users manage these via your Postmaster email address
within webmail:
Create a Mailing List
Note: replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain
name


Complete the fields as appropriate for your mailing list:
- Name: The name of your mailing list
- Moderator: Select the authorised email address
to manage the mailing list
- Password (Optional): Password protect your
mailing list – Note: to send emails to a password protected mailing
list you must send the password in the subject field enclosed by
brackets and colons. For example, Subject: [:password:]
Attention all Mailing List subscribers
- Allowed Posters: This drop down menu specifies
who is allowed to send a mailing list, Moderator Only, Subscribers
Only, Anyone – we recommend that you set this to Moderator
Only.
- Subject Prefix (Optional): You can prefix the
subject of a mailing list message so it is always the same. It is
recommended to enable this so mailing list subscribers can easily
filter through messages if they subscribe to more than one
list.
- List To Address: Choose the email address that
will display in the To field when a subscriber receives a mailing
list message
- List From Address: Choose the email address
that will display in the From field when a subscriber receives a
mailing list message
- List Reply To Address: Choose the email
address that will display in the Reply To field when a subscriber
replies to a mailing list message
- Max Message Size: You can restrict the maximum
size of your outgoing message if you wish
- Description: Enter a description of this
mailing list
When you have completed these fields click
Options and select the appropriate options for
your mailing list

- Enable Digest Mode: Digest mode means that
sending a Digest request to the list email address will send a list
of all the topics that are present in the list
- Enable Header: Sets a header to each
message
- Enable Footer Sets a footer to each
message
- Send Subscriber Email: Sends an email to the
Moderator when a user subscribes to the mailing list
- Send Unsubscribe Email: Sends an email to the
Moderator when a user unsubscribes to the mailing list
- Send poster whitelist: Select this option to
allow whitelisted email addresses to post to the mailing list
- Enable SUBSCRIBE command: Allows users to
subscribe to the to the mailing list by sending an email to
STServ@yourdomain.com (replacing
yourdomain.com with your actual domain name) and in the
Message Body type subscribe test
(replacing test with the name of your list)
- Enable LIST command: This option allows
subscribers to see a list of who is subscribe to the mailing list.
We recommend that this is disabled.
- Enable unsubscribe from subject: Allows users
to unsubscribe to the mailing list by sending an email to
STServ@yourdomain.com (replacing
yourdomain.com with your actual domain name) and in the
Message Body type unsubscribe test
(replacing test with the name of your List)
- Enable double opt in: Select this option to
automatically send an email confirmation to new subscribers
- Disable list error replies: Select this option
to prevent the system from automatically replying to incorrect
email commands from subscribers
If you have enabled Digest Mode you can also manage the
Digest Settings

- Last Sent: Date the last digest message was
sent
- Subject: The subject line for the digest
email
- Trigger Type: The frequency of the digest
emails
- Digest Format: The format in which the digest
emails are sent Disable non-text attachments in digest – Select
this option to remove non-text attachments from the digest
email
- Enable header: Select this option to append
header text to the beginning of the mailing list message. Note: to
edit the header text click the System Messages tab and edit the
appropriate system message
- Enable separator: Select this option to place
a separator between messages in a digest email
- Enable footer: Select this option to append
footer text to the end of the mailing list message. Note: to edit
the header text click the System Messages tab and edit the
appropriate system message
System Messages: Use the system messages tab to edit system
messages for mailing lists. Note: this tab is not visible if you
are creating a new mailing list. You must edit an existing list to
see the default system messages.
Managing Subscribers

You can manage your subscribers with these
screens.

- Click New to add a subscriber and enter their
email address and select which mailing lists they are subscribing
to.
- You can upload contacts via a .csv (comma
separated value) file and download your contacts for additional
backup.
- You can also create additional Subscriber
Fields if you need to capture further information regarding your
subscribers.
You can also manage your mailing lists within
the E-Biz Control Panel but some features may not be available. We
recommend managing this through your Postmaster account in
Webmail.
Sending a Mailing List
To send a mailing list message you simply need
to compose your email and send it to:
<Mailing List
Name>@yourdomain.com
In these examples the Mailing List Name is
Test and the domain is
ebizconfig.com so the address would be test@ebizconfig.com
