Registration
The first thing you need to do is register your new email
address. If you are conneted to a Manx Telecom Internet access
product you will be able to register for free @manx.net email
addresses. Please visit http://www.manx.net and click the
'Register' link, once you complete the registration form and agree
to the Terms and Conditions you will be ready to use your email
address.
If you are not connected to a Manx Telecom Internet Access
product then you will see an error message. This is because Manxnet
email addresses are only free for our customers.
Password Complexity Rules
To enhance the security of your email account we enforce
password complexity requirements to ensure your account cannot be
easily hacked. The password complexity rules are as follows:
- Must be a minimum of 8 characters
- Must have at least one uppercase character
- Must have at least one lowercase character
- Must have at least one number
When you complete the registration form you will be informed if
your password does not meet these requirements.
You must log in to webmail or send an email via an email program
such as Outlook Express within 30 days of registration to
ensure activation of a new address.
You now need to decide how you are going to manage your
emails.
Webmail
When you use Webmail you can view your emails from any computer
that is connected to the Internet. You visit http://www.manx.net and enter your email
username and password and you can send, receive and
store emails just like you would if you were using an email
program.
E-mail Clients
If your main method of accessing your email will be from your
home computer then you can configure your computer's email client -
such as Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird - to download your
emails. You can compose your emails 'offline' (when not connected
to the Internet) if needed and you are not limited to amount of
emails you can store, because your emails are stored on your
computer you are only limited to the space that is available on
your computer.
Manxnet Mail Plus
Manxnet Mail Plus is our premium email service that offers:
- 1000MB mailbox storage (normal size 50MB)
- Global Access POP3 access regardless of your
ISP
- Enhanced Webmail functionality featuring a
Calendar and Tasks tools
If you receive Internet services from another ISP, anywhere in
the world, and want to continue using your Manxnet mail address
through an email program like Outlook Express, or you simply need
greater storage limits then Mail Plus is for you.
