Mobile Number Portability
On-Net and Off-Net
The terms 'On-Net' and 'Off-Net' are used to describe call or
messaging types. 'On-Net' is used when your call or message
originates on your home operator's network and terminates to
another mobile number that resides with your operator. It does not
matter if the person you are calling is using the home network or
is off Island roaming with a different provider. 'Off-Net' applies
when the call or message is made on a different network, e.g.
whilst you are roaming, or if you are using your home network and
make a call or send a message to a number that resides with a
different network provider.
Pay Monthly
FLEX Tariff Plans
All our pay monthly tariffs include a flexible minutes /
messaging allowance that can be used to call, amongst other
numbers, Manx Telecom mobiles, Cloud 9 mobiles and Sure Isle of Man
mobiles. If you have used up your allowance you will be charged to
call these numbers and the rate you will be charged will be
determined by the network you are calling. For example, a call to a
Manx Telecom mobile will be charged at an on-net rate while a call
to a Sure Isle of Man mobile will be charged at an off-net rate,
typically a higher rate.
If one of your contacts decides to switch their mobile service
from Manx Telecom to another provider, e.g. Sure Isle of Man, a
call originating on your home network made outside your inclusive
allowance in future would be charged at the off-net rate and not
the on-net rate, even though you are dialling the same number.
MNP also means that if one of your contacts has decided to
switch from Sure Isle of Man to Manx Telecom you will be charged
the lower on-net rate than you were previously.
FLEX Unlimited Tariff Plans
In addition to a flexible minutes / messaging allowance as
described above, FLEX Unlimited tariffs provide either unlimited
on-net minutes or unlimited on-net messages to numbers residing on
the Manx Telecom network, depending on the tariff plan chosen.
Therefore a customer on a Manx Telecom FLEX Unlimited Minutes plan
who calls one of their contacts who has decided to switch their
mobile service from Manx Telecom to a different provider, e.g. Sure
Isle of Man, any calls to that number will be classed as off-net.
Similarly, any customer on a FLEX Unlimited Texts tariff plan who
sends a message on their home network outside of their inclusive
allowance to a contact who has switched to another provider will
incur off-net charges.
Any customer whose contacts have switched to Manx Telecom will
be included in their unlimited minutes or unlimited texts depending
on their tariff. Detailed charging information can be found under
the relevant tariff plan.
