2019 Manx Telecom Parish Walk entries open on December 1
Entries for the 2019 Manx Telecom Parish Walk open on Saturday - with discounts available for those that plan ahead and sign-up early.
The Island’s most popular mass participation sporting event will start at 8am on Saturday June 22 at the NSC in Douglas.
Entry before January 31 costs just £30 - walkers who are Manx Telecom mobile customers will also receive an additional £5 discount, thanks to the event’s title sponsor, if they enter before that date. From February 1 to March 31 the fee is £35, from April 1 until the final closing date on May 5 the fee will be £40.
All entries must be made online at www.parishwalk.com
Manx Telecom will again be providing the popular Pic2Go service for free. Pic2Go uses clever software that identifies each walker by the barcode on their race number and allows official event photos to be automatically uploaded to the walker’s Facebook page. It also has an option to automatically add comments and a link to a fundraising page, such as a JustGiving page, alongside photos. It’s well-known that having relevant contextualised pictures of fundraising activities, accompanied by sponsorship requests, drives an increased level of donations and this means Pic2Go can help fundraisers attract additional sponsors for the charities they support.
Certificates will be awarded to all walkers who complete the full distance in under 24 hours. Sub 18 hour finishers receive a gold certificate, 18 to 21 hour finishers receive silver, and 21 to 24 hour finishers, bronze.
For 2019 there are again Corporate Team and Overall Team categories, and a competition for younger walkers aged 18 to 21 completing the 32.5 miles to Peel.
Manx Telecom has been the Parish Walk’s title sponsor since 2012, but the company’s support for the event goes back to 2007 when it began sponsoring the official timing and results service.
