All entries must be made online at parishwalk.com
Manx Telecom Parish Walkers starred in the finale of this year’s Isle of Man Newspapers Awards For Excellence when 60 competitors appeared on stage at the Villa Marina. Joining them on stage was Race Director Ray Cox who received a Lifetime Achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the event. Ray has played a leading role in the development of the Manx Telecom Parish Walk since he became Race Director over 20 years ago.
The 2019 race was won by Liam Parker. Emma Shilling won the women’s race and finished seventh in the overall standings. 158 walkers completed the full 85 mile distance within the 24 hour time limit. Most of the walkers had targets to reach at least one of the checkpoints along the course – a total of 1,341 made it to Marown, and more than 900 got to Peel. In total, entrants in the 2019 event covered over 51,000 miles – that’s double the earth’s circumference!
Manx Telecom has been the Parish Walk’s title sponsor since 2012, but the company’s support for the event goes back to 2007 when it began sponsoring the official timing and results service.
