Manx Telecom was first to launch 4G services in the Isle of Man in 2014 and has 95% population coverage, continuing with its long history of mobile innovation. Manx Telecom pay monthly and pay as you go services offer customers mobile voice, SMS/MMS and data services over 2G, 3G and 4G technologies. 2G services are presented over the 900Mhz spectrum frequency on GSM/GPRS mobile network technology, 3G over 900/2100Mhz on UMTS/HSPA+ and 4G over 800/1800Mhz on LTE technology.
Manx Telecom’s post-paid tariff plans are provided under the 'Smartphone’ and 'Essential’ product plans. Launched in November 2014, the Smartphone tariffs are most popular as they provide pay monthly customers with 4G at no extra cost. Both plans provide inclusive minutes (IoM and UK, fixed lines and mobiles), texts (worldwide) and data (smartphone only), for a fixed monthly amount. SIM only (one month), 12, 18 and 24 month terms are also available.
Pre-paid service consists of a ChatterBox and Surfer tariff plans. ChatterBox plans are suited to customer needs who favour calls and texts to communicate with friends and family or Surfer plans for customers who mostly use mobile internet to communicate with friends and family over social media and like watching videos over the internet.
Top-ups range from £5 to £20 and can be performed via the web, mobile, MT operators or via scratch cards available at retail outlets island-wide. All of our top-up options provide free minutes/texts and data, for a set period, depending on top-up value.
Manx Telecom offers a large portfolio of smartphones, tablets, wearables, other mobile devices and accessories, from all major manufacturers through their retail outlet in Douglas and their online shop.
Roaming is available to both pre- and post-paid customers. Pre-paid roaming coverage (via CAMEL) is less extensive (100 operators worldwide) than post-paid coverage (386 operators worldwide). Post-paid customers have the choice of a number of different roaming bolt-ons which reduce roaming charges.
